Yorkshire Wildlife Park has confirmed that Altai, the tiger involved in a fatal attack on a man who entered its enclosure, will not be euthanised. The announcement came as the park expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and confirmed that the attraction would remain closed while staff received specialist support following the tragedy.
The incident occurred shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday, October 10, at the wildlife park in Branton, near Doncaster. South Yorkshire Police said the man entered the tiger enclosure and was subsequently attacked, suffering fatal injuries.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had not been publicly released in the reports, and authorities had not established why he entered the enclosure.
