He made some of the boldest comedies of the century. Now he says he’s finished. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 55-year-old actor confirmed that his new movie, “Ali G: Who Iz I?,” will be his last in the risky, character-driven comedic style that made him famous. foxwilmington

No “Borat 3”

“So again, I’m not doing ‘Borat 3,’ which also would be incredibly challenging,” he said. He added that the movie he just did is the most challenging he’s ever made, but that he isn’t doing more. suaragarut

Why he says he’s stopping

He explained that these comedies “are dangerous to make” and are “incredibly demanding” on the body, though he and his crew “try to limit the risks and keep everybody safe.” He said a number of people went to the hospital for dehydration while filming “Ali G: Who Iz I?” He insisted he will never do a scene if he thinks he’s actually going to die. Why he made one more

He said he decided to make this movie because he is “terrified of where our society is headed,” and he sees his comedy as a way to comment on it. He says his films can show extremism on both sides of the political spectrum. foxwilmingtonFox News

The risks he’s talked about before

This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned danger. Years ago, he said there were a couple of times when he had to put on a bulletproof vest to shoot a scene, and that you don’t want to do that too many times in your life. For the second “Borat” film, he agreed to film a scene at a gun rights rally, knowing there was a chance he could be shot, but said he felt it was an important film to be made. Fox NewsFox News

His track record

He first gained widespread attention through “Da Ali G Show” in 2000 before reaching an international audience with “Borat” in 2006. He earned two Academy Award nominations for writing “Borat” and its sequel, in 2007 and 2021. suaragarutsuaragarut

What’s next

He says he wants to do work that challenges him. The reports I found didn’t say what that will be or give a release date for the new film. Fox News

Bottom line

A comedian known for taking huge risks says one more is enough. If he keeps his word, “Ali G: Who Iz I?” is the end of an era.
