Milwaukee is two wins from its first World Series title. The Brewers beat the Rays 5-4 on Saturday night to take a 2-0 series lead.
A rough start, a strong comeback
Tampa Bay jumped out in the first inning, scoring four runs to Milwaukee’s two. A two-run home run by Liam Hicks highlighted the Rays’ inning. From there, the Brewers chipped away, with a run in the fourth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh. Sal Frelick homered in the game.
The bullpen shut the door
Starter Logan Henderson went three innings and gave up four runs, then the Brewers’ bullpen threw six scoreless innings. Abner Uribe got the win and Aaron Ashby earned the save. Tyler Wells took the loss for Tampa Bay.
What’s next
The series moves to Tampa Bay. Game 3 is Monday, October 26, and Game 4 is Tuesday, October 27. A fifth game, if needed, would also be played in Tampa Bay, and Games 6 and 7 would return to Milwaukee.
Why it matters
The Brewers or Rays will win their first championship. Milwaukee needs two more wins.
Bottom line
Down 4-2 after one inning, up 2-0 in the series. The Rays now need to win at home.
