Why Chuck Lorre Felt Vindicated After Anna Faris Left Mom

Chuck Lorre had his reservations about Anna Faris.

The Mom creator admitted in his new memoir Sitcom that he wasn’t sold on casting the House Bunny actress in the CBS comedy, although she was the studio’s first choice for recovering alcoholic Christy Plunkett.

“I wasn’t sure Anna would be appropriate for this kind of material,” Lorre explained in his book. “Then I thought about how badly I’d bungled my working relationship with Charlie Sheen.”

The realization about the star of his show Two and a Half Men made the TV creator change his mind, writing, “Someone’s personal life is none of my business. The mom in Mom would be, and should be, Anna Faris.”

After Faris was cast, Allison Janney joined the series as her mother Bonnie Plunkett, with the two playing opposite each other from 2013 to 2020 when Faris decided to leave the show ahead of season eight.
